Notes and samples for CURRENT PROJECTS

These are projects that are currently being developed or that have been recently completed. If time allows, we will put a page of comps together online as either HTML or as a PDF. This helps us monitor progress and maintain a full overview of the the project path. Otherwise, it's just nice to show new stuff as it surfaces.

LISCIO'S
Liscio's Italian Bakery is a commercial baker in South Jersey. They have a brand and website that was in need of some reworking. Most of what they wanted to do was simply showcase their products and give users an opportunity to view their facility.
The initial designs shown here are suggesting a palette of earth tones to get the feel of fresh baked goodness. We also wanted to create a series of navigation treatments with art to create a more retail feel.

MARCHI
Marchi is a new storefront jeweler that is committed to present the culture of jewelry. The site will serve to create an online presence for the business. It's essentially a brochure site that shows the collections from the featured artists and designers. The content and product allows us to make an elegant site with very little clutter and strong product images.
The design and scheme are fairly simple. It's mostly image driven. We are currently developing content for the remaining pages.

THE DELINQUENT GIRL | Zahn
This is a cover design for Temple University Press. The challenge with doing a cover for the academic publisher is usually the budget. This project was no different.
In this case we had a fairly sensitive subject but one that required a sense of urgency. The editor asked to avoid the trappings of an overly stylistic or melodramatic treatment. In working closely with the very smart people at Temple Press, we put together a cover design that was type driven, using a stark and powerful distribution of two solid colors and the eternally beautiful Univers Ultra Condensed.

RESTRUCTURING PHILADELPHIA | Adams
This is a set of unused cover comps for Temple University Press. The final cover ultimately used a dotted line to indicate borders. I kind of liked these however because of how they integrated the image with type and just 2 colors.

WIZ WIT | Liscios Bakery
This was a signage promotion for a family owned bakery just outside of Philadelphia. The signs will be used as outdoor advertising as well as back lit displays inside Citizens's Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies. The copy and art direction had to attach the bakery's product to one of their most famous customers without mentioning the customers name specifically.
While the bakery provides bread of all shapes and sizes to a huge client base, "Pat's King of Steaks" is a local name that has gained national appeal. While the bread brand is a virtually unknown part of the famous sandwich (a role player... okay, I said it), The bakery "name" is identified by the bread boxes often found stacked outside of the steak shop.

Alternate Comps
from completed projects

The final product is often the result of various unused ideas and sketches. While these efforts were never fully developed, they helped shape the finished piece.
